Shopping in Barcelona

If you're a shopaholic in Barcelona you'll feel like you've gone to heaven; whether you're looking for fashion shops, clothes shops, food shops or gift shops, Barcelona has every kind of boutiques, shopping centres and specialist shops.

Shopping in Barcelona, of course, a main attraction for some of the tourists, and those in pursuit of places to spend their money will not be disappointed. The amount of quality items available here in the Barcelona shops is astonishing. There are many designer and brand name shops, and prices are low compared to some capital cities in Europe.

If you want to go window shopping then take a stroll down Diagonal, Passeig de Gracia and La Rambla De Catalunya, where you can find all the big name stores and the latest in fashion. You can then continue your walk down Portal Del Angel (between Plaça Catalunya and the Cathedral), where you will find all sorts of shops including Bershka and Zara. You must also make sure you visit the small streets between the cathedral and La Rambla, where you can find a variety of small shops selling anything from shoes to toys while you appreciate the views of Gothic Barcelona.

Remember, in Barcelona you are required to show a valid ID or Passport if paying with a credit card.

Opening hours

Shops in Barcelona tend to stay open til late. Some shops are closed in the afternoon from 2pm-4pm or 5pm, especially in the residential districts outside Barcelona city centre. Most shops are closed on Sunday, and this includes the supermarkets.
