More Info
In 1906 Gaudí, his father and his orphaned cousin all moved into this cute little house. The tower was not built by the architect, however, the interior of the house, its atmosphere and its orientation was all Gaudí’s work. He was trying to create a atmosphere in the house to help his father through his illness but despite his efforts his father died in October that same year. Then 6 months later his cousin also died leaving Gaudi alone in the house for 20 years.
After his death the house was inherited by la Junta Constructora del Templo de la Sagrada Familia who for economic reason decided to sell it. It was bought by newlyweds Francesc Chiappo Arietti and his wife who moved into the house and lived there for over 40 years. After their death the house was finally aquired by the Amigos de Gaudí association who made it into a cultural institution.
The association endeavoured to create the same atmosphere and structure of how the house was while Gaudí was living there, returning the precious furniture designed by Gaudí to its rightful place.
