The gothic quarter surrounding the plaza is greatly dominated by the Santa Maria del Pi, it is decorated with striking multicolored rose windows that look over the weekend markets taking place in the square. Both the church and the plaza are named after the pine trees that used to stand nearby, pi in Catalan meaning pine tree. If you haven’t passed the plaza at the right time before this market is full of natural local products from cheese to honey, and so is definitely worth a visit.
