Designed by the modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, and completed in 1930, it includes over 20 buildings, many of which are open to the public. Its grounds and various buildings include ornate chapels, landscaped gardens, and a library, as well as being one of the city’s main hospitals. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site
