If you are only visiting Barcelona, forget the car, as there is no need for it. The best way to travel in Barcelona is by metro. Remember to buy a T10 ticket, which gives you 10 trips by bus or metro at 40% off. Current price for a single ticket is 1,10 Euros and a T10 is 6,30 Euros.

If you are going to travel outside Barcelona, buses and trains are quite cheap. If you rent a car, remember that most car rental firms do LIMITED mileage, look around for a good deal (have a look at our car rentals listing).

If you do drive a car, remember to never leave anything in it like a jacket or bag, as thieves target cars containing belongings especially foreign cars. When you are driving in the center of the city keep the doors locked or your belongings in the backseat might be snatched while you are waiting for the traffic light to change!.

Also, there have been some stories of people stopping foreign cars on the motorways by indicating that they have a flat tire and then robbing them. So be careful of helping (or being helpful to) strangers (didn´t your mother tell you that?)
