Every now and then a new bar opens which defines its place and time. The Born neighbourhood in Barcelona 2015 belongs to GUZZO. Whether you come for the cocktails and drinks, or a quality meal in the restaurant, this unique venue always offers so much more. Its proprietor Fred Guzzo, a long-established DJ in Barcelona’s Black music captains a music program that’s second to none and groovier than a desert campfire shindig. Its walls shimmer with original art works. Current exhibition by Adrien H Tilmann, director of Subagora, presents a fascinating retrospective of GUZZO’s first year, from the inauguration til today.
True to form, there’s a whole agenda of quality sessions for you to enjoy in this weekend. Friday night’s entertainment will be faultlessly delivered by Patrick Forge, who flies in especially from London with a record bag stuffed to the brim with the finest Black roots music from the 80s. Saturday night is Groove Corner, and residents Alexis and Fred get that Guzzo vibe pumping to the max. On Sunday afternoon you can chill out with a recovery brunch from 12pm, with Raynald Colom and the Tutti Frutti ensemble at the helm, plus plenty of special guests until late.
The action continues on Tuesday 12th with Casa Negra and Suji Nossa, and on Wednesday all the family get together to celebrate Fred Guzzo’s birthday in true style.
