Beaches in South of Barcelona

A few kilometres down the Costa from Barcelona you have the beaches of Sitges with the mixed, nude and gay sections all overflowing with the right mix of bodies and sun worshippers. Heading further south you will start getting into the land of Costa Dorada with its white sandy beaches. Vilanova i la Geltru, Calafell and Tarragona are popular places to cool off. Further south you are heading into the ultimate tourist traps of Port Aventura and Salou. Port Aventura hosts the famous amusement park where you can search for the breeze on the roller coaster and attempt to cool your skin in the wild water sledge.

There’s not much peace to be found here. Further south the road takes you to Tortosa and L’Ampolla. You’ll find many beaches around the Cap de Tortosa which are far enough from civilization to enjoy a bit of nature without the typical hotel complexes cluttering the proximity of most beaches.
