When you arrive in a new country, one of the first things you want to do is learn the language, so you can communicate with the locals, understand their culture and traditions better, or even to be able to get a job.
To learn a language can be very difficult, complicated and a pain in the neck. That is why it is important to find a school where the teachers, the teaching methods and general atmosphere help you to learn the language easier. Every year there are more and more foreigners that need to learn Spanish because they have decided to live in Spain.
There are hundreds of schools in Barcelona. So How can you find the right school? Some tailor the lessons to indivdual groups, others teach in classes. Some cater to companies and some give private lessons. Some teach in groups of 12-15 and some in groups of 4-6. You can normally choose between intensive courses, taking from 2-12 weeks, or extensive courses over the course of a semester (Oct-July). Which one you choose depends on the amount of hours you are prepared to study each week.
Most language schools ask for a registration fee and charge for the learning materials separately. Some provide the materials, and others allow you to use your own. Some schools also offer cultural courses and there are those that offer free activities such as dancing, cooking and excursions to learn about the Spanish and Catalan cultures...
