Driving and travel by Car in Barcelona
Barcelona is a stunning city that is well connected by the metro, tram and bus services. To travel outside of the city centre in search of more beautiful beaches it is possible to take a train from Sants Station. Sometimes, though, you need a car to reach the more spectacular spots that are simply not accessible by public transport. Traffic in Barcelona
Barcelona is a very busy city and there are lots of cars on the roads, which means that the traffic is very bad, during rush hours there will oftern be queues on the roads and it will take you a long time to get across the city from one side to another. Roads traffic accidents are the biggest killer in Spain and it is evident why when you begin to drive here so make sure you take care. There is also very little parking within the city centre and the little that there is is very expensive. So, basically it is not advisable to drive in Barcelona, the public transport system us great so use it!
Four things you need to be able to drive in Spain:
- Registration papers which show when the car was first registered and they must be in your name!
- ITV paper which is the technical specification of your car and also states when the latest ITV(mot/TÜV) inspection was
- Insurance for the car, always keep a copy of the latest payment in the car as proof of validity of the insurance
- And obviously a valid driving license
