Weather and Climate and Barcelona
Barcelona enjoys a relatively mild but humid climate. Humidity levels are normally in the mid 70’s all year round. However, the sea breeze does provide some much needed relief in the summer.
In the summer months of July and August Barcelona reaches its highest temperatures; this is normally between 30ºc and 35ºc but in 2010 there were record temperatures reaching over 39ºc! You’ll appreciate air conditioning or at least a fan if you’re in Barcelona at that time of year. It usually stays warm enough to enjoy the beach until October.
The winter months in Barcelona can get pretty cold; the temperature varies between about 6ºc and 10ºc. The coldest months are January and February. However, as many of the buildings here do not have central heating you will notice the cold! In March 2010 Barcelona was covered by snow so you really have to expect anything from the weather here.
As for rain, Barcelona doesn’t get a whole lot; although in September and October there can be heavy thunderstorms that completely drown the city. Some rain can also be expected in March, April, October and November.
