Mecal Pro, the International Short Film Festival of Barcelona, is going to be presenting its 18^th edition this coming March-April.  Screening more than 350 short films from more than 38 countries, this festival will feature its usual four competition sections: International, Oblicua, animation, and documentary short films.  Each film will be competing in their section for a selection of 3 professional jury members in order to win the top prize.

One of the four Spanish festivals that has the support of Europe and numerous national and international institutions, this festival is something that can’t be missed by movie lovers.  The quality of this festival can easily be seen due to the fact that the winners of previous Mecal festivals are often nominated for the Goya Awards.

Mecal Pro runs from March 3 to April 10, and appears at several different venues around the city, including the Centre de Cultural Contemporania de Barcelona, Cinemes Girona, and more.  Tickets for the day are €4.50, while festival passes are €25 (half off for film students).  For more information, visit the Mecal Pro website.
