Barcelona has a huge amount of opportunities to offer those who decide to move out here, and the higher education courses including TEFL certification and university programmes are no exception.  A lot of people come to Barcelona as part of the Erasmus or Socrates cultural exchange schemes, and continue their studies here for either a term or a year, as part of their university course.  Credits gained and exams passed here count towards the final grade.

There are a large range of Masters courses available too, many of which are in English.  International qualifications, such as Business studies, Management Development and Marketing are particularly popular, and can be taken at the ESADE and ESEI schools.  More specialised educational establishments, such as the IED European Design Institute, which offers undergraduate and Masters courses, also have courses in English.

Barcelona's universities teach their classes in Catalan and Spanish, the linguistic emphasis depends on the faculty and course, and although the more popular subjects tend to have a language option this is not always the case. 

After completing your undergraduate program you may want to come to Barcelona and teach English.  A TEFL certificate is required by most employers around the world when hiring people to teach English as a foreign language. There are several private institutions that offer TEFL certification courses in Barcelona.  

If you are considering a further education course in Barcelona, make sure you thoroughly research the options open to you and try visit as many open days as possible.  An important issue to discuss with the admissions department is whether your current qualifications are recognised by the organisation, or whether they will need further verification.
