Playgrounds
There are many parks and playgrounds throughout Barcelona, both in the city centre and in the more residential districts. The Park de la Ciutadella has a play area for children, and older children will also love the boating pond. Park Güell also has a lovely playground, which is surrounded by pine trees. Children’s playgrounds have been a key feature in the recent strategy for urban planning in Barcelona which aims to create more spaces for families and for the community. These include new playgrounds just off the Rambla in Pl Xirau, in Pl George Orwell, and on C/ Carmen in the Raval.
Workshops
Barcelona’s museums and arts institutions often offer special workshops for children to tie in with exhibitions and other events. Each district of Barcelona has it’s own civic centre that also offers one off workshops, and longer courses during the summer. Check out the events section of this website for details of upcoming workshops for children, and if you’re organising anything yourself then upload it for free.
Sports Centres for children
In the hot summer months there’s nothing that the kids like better than to splash about in a swimming pool. Each district of Barcelona has a sports centre, and some even have an outdoor pool. Other sports activities for children are also organized in the local sports centres.
Summer Schools
Summer schools give children the perfect opportunity to practice their languages whilst having fun with other kids the same age, and of course offer much relief for working parents. There are several prestigious international schools in Barcelona which offer different summer school courses.
