 | Barcelona’s International Folk Festival brings together some top acts form the underground Catalan folk scene. This year’s festival has a program of over 50 performances and activities filling Barcelona’s main venues: CAT, Luz de Gas, L’Auditori and the Palau de la Música Catalana. Like every year Tradicionarius presents us with the most recent releases in folk music. This year’s line up sees names such as Els Groullers, Bauma, Abeniara, la Romàntica del Saladar, La Mata de Jonc, Ton Rulló i la Pegebanda, Sol i Serena. The festival also reintroduces some legends in the genre with Catalonia’s own El Pont d’Arcalís representing the 20s in the Palau de la Música Catalana. There’s always a space for some international acts to compliment the event with bands as different as the French Trio Guerbigny to Carlos Mejía Godoy from Nicaragua. There are also a number of workshops and master classes for those interested in developing their folk style. |
