El Feile
Barcelona’s own annual celebration of rish and Celtic culture is now in its 7th edition, and the festival action unravels in the week around St Patrick’s Day.Check out this jam packed program of music,
Irish dance, Gaelic games, and comedy acts take over the city’s main venues with some of the biggest up-and-coming acts!
Barcelona welcomed the first El Feile festival in 2003 and it has since continued to soar from strength to strength.Festival director, Stephen Garland saw a real opportunity to increase the presentation of Irish and Celtic cultural traditions in Barcelona,and has steadily been upping the stakes with an increasingly varied line-up of performances and events.
On Saturday 13th March The Giggling Guiri
Comedy Club presents Kevin Bridges, hyped as one of the “best comedy acts to come from Scotland since Billy Connolly!”Named the “young comedy prodigy” by The Guardian, Bridges was a sell-out at last year’s Edinburgh fringe festival and was nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2009
Edinburgh Comedy Awards. The show follows the Scotsman’s inner most thoughts on a variety of contemporary themes with a fresh mix of social interpretation, astute observations and sharp oneliners.
Bridges performs at 10pm, Cafè Teatre

On the music front El Feile invites Irish hip hop legend Ri Rá along with the Wu Tang Clan’s Grammy award winning Method Man to Sala Apolo on St Patrick’s night, on the 17th March. The unique Rí Rá, meaning ‘chaos’ in Irish, was originally part of Scary Eire crew during the 80s
and has held the crown of Irish rap ever since.They perform at Sala Apolo, from 9pm (Tickets 23€ presale/28€ box office).

The festival also invites everyone to try out a bit of Irish recreation with open training sessions for Gaelic Games activities. Now firmly established in
Catalonia, the Barcelona Gaels are looking to recruit new players to one of the fastest growing sports in Europe. Anyone willing to try something new and get involved get in the Irish cultural
